WHO AM I?
Opara Jerry Michael (b. 1999, Port Harcourt, Nigeria) is a multidisciplinary artist who has been practicing professionally for over 6 years. Michael’s works explore the human figure in relation to color shape and sometimes seemingly mundane objects that may be familiar to the viewer. His entry into the NFT space began in march 2021. Before Web3, Michael participated in several IRL art exhibitions alongside some of the most prominent Nigerian artists. Michael has also curated a successful exhibition in partnership with The Vav art foundation. The exhibition featured 11 artists form various backgrounds. With your support, he plans to continue giving support to other artists.
WHY I DO WHAT I DO
I’ve loved drawing since I was a child, but I began creating art professionally in 2016 and have been doing it ever since. I won’t tell you I don’t do art for the money because I do need money to make more art. But I will say that the money isn’t what drives me to keep creating. I make art because it allows me to tell stories, represent concepts visually, and most of all, spark conversation. I’ve never been the most social person. I barely ever speak, but I always enjoy intellectual conversations. I create art because it’s one of the few things that move me to speak. It would mean the world to me if you take out time to look at my artworks and reach out to me, ask me questions about my works, and maybe tell people about what I do. THANK YOU❤️
